Pluto's stories

Postby Maurice » Thu Oct 01, 2015 7:56 am

Pluto was named such from inspiration by an 11 year old girl named Venetia who thought the Roman god of the underworld nicely captures the feeling of the dark and remote world... Her Sun happens to be right on the North Node of Pluto, and by the time of the naming, Pluto was ...right there!

Sol Alan Stern is an American engineer and planetary scientist. He is the principal investigator of the New Horizons mission to Pluto. Stern campaigned for years to have a mission on Pluto but NASA balked. At the end, Stern had a card: people love Pluto! Guess where is Alan's Pluto...exactly square his Sun, and quite a North Node constellation! WIth Mars in Scorpio, he did not give up for years on Pluto!
